The Law of evidence is the aggregate of rules and principles regulating the admissibility, relevancy, weight, and sufficiency of evidence in legal proceedings. Evidence is any species of proof,or probative matter, legally presented at the trial of an issue.
The Law of Evidence is complementary to the Indian Penal Code which contains the substantive criminal law and the Code of Criminal procedure which elaborately prescribes the procedure relating to Criminal trials.
